Philosophy and Technology: Readings in the Philosophical Problems of Technology

Mitcham, Carl

The late 1970s and early 1980s have witnessed a deepening concern for issues associated with bioethics, technology assessment, energy policy, nuclear weapons and power, and general science-technology-society studies- all of which promote the need for a general philosophical analysis of the nature and meaning of technology. Each year a growing number of articles, books, and courses undertake to address this need. The renewed availability of the present volume of "classic" texts should provide a background for and increase the depth of such general reflection on these critical issues.
