Self-organizing systems: An interdisciplinary approach
- ISBN:
- 9783593328331
During the last few years several attempts have been made by authors and research groups towards a better understanding of the principles of the functional organization of prebiotic and biological systems, leading to the development of concepts such as "self organization", "synergetics", "self-referentiality", "autopoiesis", which have in common the view of those systems as a product of highly specific interactions between their components and of autonomy with regard to their environment. The aim of this symposium was to discuss similarities and differences between those approaches and to study both their epistemological implications and the consequences and possible applications for human social systems.
